About the Project

Sitting at an intersection of American Studies and the sociology of music, my PhD is the first ethnomusicological study of female country performers in the 21st century. It examines how the perception of gender has shifted within the genre, the influence of socio-economic and technological advancements in this period, and how developments in women’s and gender movements have affected the conservative domain of American country music.
